This is a horrifying story. Canadian heir Blake Leibel has been accused of mutilating his girlfriend, Iana Kasian, whose body was found inside their apartment completely drained of blood.
Blake Leibel, 32, has been charged with murder, mayhem, aggravated mayhem and torture in the brutal death of his longtime girlfriend, Iana Kasian, who was 30 years old when she was killed. Iana’s mutilated body was discovered inside their West Hollywood apartment and appeared to be drained of all the blood. So scary.
Screenwriter and comic book creator Blake Leibel could face the death penalty if found guilty in the horrific murder of his girlfriend, Iana Kasian. Blake was charged on Tuesday, May 31, by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, reports People. The accused killer pled “not guilty” to all charges, but he is being held without bail and will appear in court again as soon as June 14.
Iana’s mother reported her missing in May, and on the 26th police searched the apartment she shared with Blake. They found Iana “unresponsive” in a bedroom, and she appeared to have suffered “blunt force trauma” to the head. Blake was inside the apartment when the police found Iana’s body, but police revealed that he had “barricaded himself” behind “furniture and bedding” so prevent the officers from entering. Unfortunately, his barricades didn’t work.
Sadly, it is being reported that Blake and Iana had a baby together. According to reports the baby was staying with a friend or family member at the time of the discovery.
Oddly enough, Blake was accused of sexual assault just one week before police discovered his girlfriend’s body. He was arrested on May 20, but later released after paying the $100,000 bail. For now, the two crimes seem completely unrelated.
Although Blake is best known as a comic book creator in Los Angeles, he is most prominently known in Canada as the heir to his father’s real estate fortune. Blake’s father is Lorne Leibel, a former Olympic athlete who competed in the 1976 games. Blake reportedly moved to California in 2004, and has been receiving a massive monthly allowance ever since.
Our thoughts remain with Iana’s family and friends during this devastating time.
