Rivers pensioners flay Wike’s delay in implementing Tripartite committee’s report

Pensioners in Rivers State have expressed worry over the delay by Governor, Nyesom Wike to implement the report of the tripartite committee set up to look into the issues concerning serving and retired civil servants of the state.

The leader of the pensioners who retired from service in 2015, Lucky Ati said the delay has caused more suffering in the lives of his members.

Ati explained that the continued delay in making public, the report of the committee and acting appropriately on it, makes the essence of the committee irrelevant and defeated.

He noted that life has not been easy for pensioners in the state since they retired from active service.

‘It is our statutory entitlement. We are entitled to be paid pension and gratuity so he should pay us. We are appealing to him”.

“He set up a tripartite committee to look into issues concerning serving and retired civil servants and the report has been submitted and is lying on his table and waiting for implementation”.

“We are made to understand that the committee’s work was elaborate. It is something that should have taken care of each of the problems that civil servants and pensioners and having”.

“So we are appealing to him let him release the report of the committee and start implementation”.
