After premiering ‘Tales by Moonlight‘ yesterday, Tiwa Savage finally drops “Water & Garri EP”.
Tiwa Savage debut in 2021 with the highly anticipated new EP titled “Water & Garri“. Featuring International artists; Brandy, Nas & Rich King, with Alte Queen, Amaarae and romantic singer, Tay Iwar , the EP houses 5 tracks and explores new sounds with smooth and calm vibes.
Savage’s fearlessness in combining a unique fusion of Afrobeat, R&B, soul and pop paid off, earning her an abundance of award nominations including four Channel O Music Video Awards nominations, five World Music Award nominations, two Headies nominations, MTV Africa Music, BET & MOBO Award nominations and many more. The U.S. edition of Vogue hailed her as one of the Most Inspirational Women, and in December 2018, British Vogue singled her out as one of 10 women that are changing the face of music globally.
2018 was a remarkable year all-around for her. She was named Best African Act at the MTV European Music Awards, making history as the first female to win the award. She was handpicked by Coldplay’s Chris Martin to perform alongside Beyoncé, Ed Sheeran and JAY Z live at the Global Citizen Festival to an 70,000 audience and millions across the globe.See Water & Garri Tracklist
As the follow-up to her acclaimed third album, 2020’s Celia, Water & Garri EP unifies Tiwa Savage’s global influences—gleaned from spending primary years in Lagos, teenage years in London and attending university in the US—into a collage of R&B, Afrobeats and pop.
Named after the staple cassava dish that’s enjoyed hot or cold, and released in two parts, Water & Garri mashes together sounds and styles with global collaborators and her own heartfelt style. On “Somebody’s Son”, she ruminates on a love to come alongside US singer Brandy, while on “Tales by Moonlight” she links up with Ghanaian singer Amaarae on a flirtatious jaunt pairing elements of soulful ’90s house with African rhythms. This half of the two-part EP also loops in the talents of Nas and Rich King (“Work Fada”) and Tay Iwar (“Special Kinda”).
Listen and Enjoy!
