Chelsea vs Tottenham: Lampard reveals two players he relies on in dressing room

Chelsea manager, Frank Lampard, has admitted he ‘relies’ on role models, Thiago Silva and Olivier Giroud in his dressing room.

The duo are two of the more senior players currently in the Blues’ squad at the age of 36 and 34 respectively.

Silva moved to Stamford Bridge in the summer after eight years at Paris Saint-Germain, where he won seven Ligue 1 titles and reached the Champions League final.

Giroud has scored 30 goals for Chelsea since joining from Arsenal, despite failing to cement a regular place in Lampard’s starting XI.

When asked about the support he receives from his senior players, Lampard told The Athletic: “I hardly ever go in. So you rely on people like Olivier Giroud, who is a great example because he’s not always playing.

“With someone like Thiago Silva, who doesn’t have the language, it’s through performance, the way he prepares and trains and his serious nature. That’s an instant rub-off.”
