Yul Edochie: “Why I can’t wish anyone happy independence”

 Veteran Nigerian actor, Yul Edochie has revealed why he is not going to celebrate this years Independence Day.

Independence Day is an official national holiday in Nigeria, celebrated on the first of October. It marks Nigeria’s proclamation of independence from British rule on 1 October 1960. So for this reason, Nigeria celebrates its independence on 1 October every year.

Taking to his Twitter handle, Yul Edochie dropped a very deep and heart warming message to celebrate Nigeria at 60.

He tweeted;

I cannot wish anyone a happy independence when my people are not happy.

What are we celebrating?
Fuel price increase? Electricity tariff hike? Hardship? Bad roads? Killings everywhere?
Jobless youths turned beggars?
The list is endless.
Speak the truth.
Nigerians are suffering.
