Music fans try to keep cool as festival tipped to be the warmest EVER gets underway in blazing sunshine

Music lovers at Glastonbury have been making the most of the hot weather today, opting for shorts and bikini tops ahead of what could be the 'hottest ever' weekend for the festival, with temperatures of 91F expected to shine down on revellers.

Temperatures reached 82F today and forecasters have said that the south west of the UK will be the hottest in the country over the next couple of days, when the mercury could reach 84F (29C) today and 89F (31C) on Friday.

This year will mark the 36th Glastonbury festival with around 203,000 revellers descending on the site over the next few days. This will include 135,000 members of the general public who purchased tickets as well as artists, crew members and staff who keep the festival running smoothly.

Over the weekend the packed-out festival will host acts such as The Killers, The Cure and even US star Miley Cyrus gracing the famous Pyramid stage.

As revellers arrived this morning many got into the festival spirit almost immediately, cracking open beers and bottles of wine.

Police officers were even spotted getting in on the fun and were photographed in their full uniforms with a group of festival goers.

This is while one couple Sarah Adley, 31, and Jack Watney, 32, who were engaged at the festival in 2017, decided to tie the knot this afternoon, with an audience of 50 family members and friends who had all managed to get tickets for the big day.
