Adewunmi, 28, Nku, 31, Akinremi, 30 and Ibrahim 19, whose addresses were not given, are standing trial on a three-count charge bordering on trespass and breach of the peace.

The Prosecutor, Insp. Abbass Abayomi, told the court that the defendants committed the alleged offences on May 4, at 1.30p.m. at Eluju Community in Ibeju-Lekki area of Lagos.

He said that the defendants forcibly entered into a piece of land which was in peaceful possession by the complainant, one Mr Johnbull Amayaevbo, at Eluju community in Lekki, Lagos.

“The defendants conducted themselves in a manner likely to cause breach of the peace by erecting a building on the complainant’s land without the consent of the complainant,” Abayomi said.

He said that the alleged offences contravened Sections 52, 168 (d) and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The defendants, however, denied the offences.

The Magistrate, Mr A. O. Alogba, granted them bail in the sum of N100, 000 each with two sureties each in like sum.

He said that the sureties must be gainfully employed and must be tax compliant.

The case was adjourned until May 30 for trial.
