The actor was carrying around a packet of Lowell Smokes, which contain 22-25 percent THC, the chemical compound found in marijuana.
The cigarettes are completely legal in the state of California.
Richard was casually clad for his outing, rocking a zip-up jacket with a shearling collar and a pair of shades.
Brandon, who was dressed down in a white T-shirt and jeans, was seen placing a friendly hand on the Bodyguard star's back as the pair chatted.
Richard was previously alleged to have moved in with Brandon after relocating to LA in a bid to carve out a career in Hollywood.
His new housemate was said to have 'introduced lots of his friends' to the Game Of Thrones actor.
A source told The Sun: ‘Richard’s career is going from strength to strength – the world really is his oyster.
