Bauchi Petition Tribunal Receives 27 Petitions One Week To Submission Deadline

With just one week to the deadline of submission of petitions in the Bauchi election tribunal, the All progressive Congress, APC in the state is yet to submit its petition as 27 cases has so far been received by the tribunal.

The Secretary of the Bauchi state election petition tribunal, Bello Abdullahi made the disclosure yesterday in his office, while fielding questions from newsmen on the commencement of the hearing.

The Secretary said that the deadline was fixed from the day of the declaration of who won the election within three weeks, adding anyone whom wish to file his petition, must do so within the stipulated time.

Bello Abdullahi said that so far, the tribunal has received is 27, with a recent petition coming from the candidate who contested the state house of assembly representing Lere/Bula Tafawa Balewa Constituency.


 “The election petition received so far for national assembly is fifteen cases.For Senate, we have seven, for the House of representative, we  have eight petitions while for the state assembly, we have twelve cases, making it a total of twenty seven, as at today  Tuesday 9th April 2019” He said

It could be recalled that, Governor Mohammed Abubakar after his return to the state capital last Wednesday,  changed his mind to challenge the victory of the PDP and it’s governor elect, Bala Mohammad, after conceding defeat.

Governor Abubakar attributed his u-turn to his party’s decision to challenge the outcome of the governorship election in the state, saying that the election petition hearing would commence very soon, but no date has been fixed
