The 40-year-old mother-of-five revealed earlier this week that, as Harvey grows older, stronger and more aggressive, she was considering this option - and appeared on Friday's This Morning to reveal she has decided to go ahead with it.
'He is now six foot two, 24 stone and he's still growing,' she said. 'And he kicks off. The other day he kicked a chair across a room over a muffin.
'On Instagram, I only show him when he's good. But he's got a side to him. My house is smashed to bits. This year he has broken eight iPads and four TVs. Someone might bang the door and he'll chuck something.
'Some people think I'm out of order [sending him into care] but people don't understand the situation.'
The former glamour model insisted she 'doesn't want sympathy' but that things are very difficult at home, especially as she has four other smaller children.
'Harvey wanted to come with me [to This Morning]. He thinks I am out getting him a carbonara. He'll be waiting by the window for it,' she said. 'He is like a nightmare newborn. He goes into the kids' room at night, says "boo", and scares them.'
Katie is mother to Junior, 13, Princess, 11, Jett, five and Bunny, four, and has made the decision to move Harvey into accommodation at his school with a heavy heart.
'I love him so much, he's my life. It has taken me ages to be convinced this is the best place for him,' she said. 'I would never want him to think I am palming him off - but I have no choice.'
She went on to explain: 'I can still go, have dinner, tuck him into bed, he will only be there Monday-Friday.
