James Argent revealed he's celebrating six months of sobriety following a turbulent time in his life, telling the Loose Women on Friday he's feeling happier than ever. 

The TOWIE star, 31, who is in a relationship with Gemma Collins, 37, told the panel: 'I'm around six months sober at the moment, I'd still like to get a bit of weight off.' 

Panellist Nadia Sawalha, 54, addressed the topic of weight, acknowledging Gemma's recent 2st loss as she competes on the show.

Nadia said: 'We've discussed weight before. Is it hard for you that Gemma has lost weight and you've clearly... you have put weight on?' 

Arg took the comment in his stride and said: 'I hold my hands up I can't deny it. I won't lie to you.' 

But addressing the fact that he's successfully got sober, he said: 'One thing at a time.'  

Arg also spoke proudly about Gemma's Dancing On Ice experience so far, saying he's done really well and denied that her recent fall was a publicity stunt.

He said: 'Gemma, as much as I love her,  I don't want to gas her up too much. But she's probably one of the most talked about women in the country.

'She's not going to risk a serious... potentially smashing her face to pieces for a bit of publicity, she could do with a bit less if anything.'
