Buhari’s Victory Sad News For Nigerians –Adebanjo

Ayo Adebanjo, the leader of Afenifere has said that the victory of President Muhammadu Buhari as announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was sad news for Nigerians.

Speaking to DAILY INDEPENDENT on Wednesday, the elder statesman noted that there was no election, adding that the way in which the election was conducted “was criminal, unclear and open rigging. He said the result was not yet the end of the issue because Nigerians were brutalized, and the leadership of the country sent army to Port Harcourt and other areas to manhandle Nigerians.

He added, “Did you not see photograph of under age children voting in Kano?
I don’t think you would call that an election? All the violence witnessed took place in areas where Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had strongholds. They prevented Nigerians from exercising their franchise. It was open rigging that they indulged in, not minding who was watching. A peace corps member narrowly escaped being lynched in his area,” he said.

He said it did not matter to him who becomes the president of the country, adding that, what mattered to him was conducting a free, fair and credible election. He pointed out that it was unfortunate that Nigeria had a president who would not do anything when people were being killed. He wondered why he would say he was president of everyone when he did not care what happened to others.
