Guardiola: City Cannot Afford Any Slip Up

Pep Guardiola is under no illusion that Manchester City must win all their remaining games, if they are to edge Liverpool.

The Spanish manager admits Jurgen Klopp’s men might not drop any points. Liverpool hold a four-point lead in the League, as City attempt to close that gap at Newcastle.

City reached the 100-point mark last season and Guardiola was asked if a similar feat may be required to retain their crown.

“I would say it’s not breaking the record, that doesn’t matter, but we’ll have to win a lot of games. They’ll not drop too many,” said Guardiola, whose side would rack up 101 points if they win their last 15 matches.

“I don’t know what we need to do, I’m sure we’ll have to win a lot. We are going to try to be there.

“They know it – we spoke about it. Before 85, 87, 89 [points would be enough to win the league] – now you have to be over 90 points.”
