Emma Forbes says the menopause has sparked her 'irrational' anxiety

Emma Forbes has revealed the menopause has sparked her 'irrational' anxiety during a candid interview on Thursday's edition of Lorraine.

The TV and radio presenter, 53, touched on the symptoms of her 'terrible' transition and vowed to be more 'vocal' about her battle in a bid to help other women.

Known for showcasing her stunning figure during her annual Barbados trips, the Alan Titchmarsh Show host also shared the secrets behind maintaining her slender physique.

Detailing her experience with the menopause, the Hammersmith native revealed: 'It's caused terrible anxiety and a loss of confidence. It's all irrational too.

'I remember my 19-year-old son told me he's going to the cinema and I told him to take a sweater. He told me he was fine but I remember being really irrational about it. I thought, "What am I saying?".

According to NHS, menopause is a 'natural part of ageing that usually occurs between 45 and 55 years of age, as a woman's oestrogen levels decline. In the UK, the average age for a woman to reach the menopause is 51'.

Emma elaborated on her treatment: 'It's been a rocky road. I did go on the bi-identical route, which is a form of HRT (Hormone Replacement Therapy) but its supposedly more natural.
