Middlesbrough have completed the signing of Nigerian international midfielder John Obi Mikel.
Mikel has joined as a free agent after leaving Chinese side Tianjin Teda by mutual consent earlier this month.
The Super Eagles captain has arrived on a short term deal and will wear the No.2 shirt.
Much decorated Mikel has been at Rockliffe several times for talks with Tony Pulis and the Boro top brass over the past week.
Mikel Obi was back at Rockliffe this morning to finalise a short term switch.
The Champions League winner was at Boro’s Hurworth HQ on Monday for advanced talks about a move.
Tony Pulis told the club’s official website after completing a prized capture: “I’m pleased to get him in. He is a man with a lot of experience and quality.
“He has a winning mentality and he wants to be here and a part of what we are looking to achieve.”
