Fans have been given their first glimpse of Emmerdale nemesis Kim Tate's explosive return to the Yorkshire Dales, almost 20-years after her exit.
The manipulative character, played by actress Claire King, will make a typically dramatic arrival after her release from prison, whereupon she is met by Joe Tate’s right-hand man, Graham Foster.
After a briefing on recent events at Home Farm, she doesn't let the grass grow under her feet - but not before giving Graham the menacing order to 'take care of Joe.'
Her homecoming couldn't be better timed, with the villagers in uncharacteristically high spirits over the charitable masquerade ball and auction.
With the highest bid a luxury sports car there is understandable cause for excitement, but happiness soon turns to horror after Kim sassily emerges from the driver's seat.
Sporting a vampish blue evening dress she boldly declares herself the true owner of Home Farm, before inviting the stunned gathering inside for drinks.
But true to form Kim makes instant enemies before she can even get her feet under the table, no thanks to her inability to hold her vicious tongue.
Oblivious to the negative impact her abrupt arrival has had on party-goers, she heads upstairs, whereupon her piercing scream stuns guests as she is pushed down the stairs and sent crashing into the champagne fountain.
Kim's explosive return comes as part of the award-winning ITV soap's annual dramatic week-long October storyline, which in the past has seen a killer car pile-up and Emma Barton's death.
