Why MFM Founder, Olukoya Files N10bn Libel Suit Against Sahara Reporter, Sowore

Here is why Pastor Daniel Olukoya of the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministry (MFM) is suing Sahara reporters for ₦10 billion.
A libel suit has been filed against the online news agency and its owner, Mr. Omoyele Sowore.
According to the MFM founder, he is suing  Sowore, his agency, Sahara Reporters Incorporated and the Incorporated Trustees of Sahara Media Foundation for promoting fake news against him and his ministry.

In the suit filed before the Akwa Ibom State High Court in Uyo, Pastor Olukoya reveals he has been asking the platform to stop publishing false and malicious articles against him and  MFM since 2013.
He also states that his demands for Sahara Reporters to take down all the offending stories against him and his church within seven days were ignored. The MFM founder says their failure to give in to his demands forced him to take legal action against them.

Now the popular pastor and his church want the court to order the defendants to pay N10bn for damages and

"pull down and erase each of the offending stories from the Internet forthwith."

They also want

"a written apology and retraction, published prominently in their online news report and in at least three nationally circulating newspapers and two international magazines, including TIME International."

The suit marked HU/250/2018 lists the Incorporated Trustees of Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries as the first claimant and Pastor Olukoya as the second claimant.
