Susanna Reid reveals she lost a STONE in eight weeks

Susanna Reid told Good Morning Britain viewers on Wednesday that she lost a stone in eight weeks after her doctor told her she had a 'top heavy' BMI.

Speaking about losing weight, the 47-year-old said: 'It was a combination of factors, but a doctor said I was at the top end of my BMI.

'He said it might benefit me if I lost a little weight.'

Quizzed on why she felt the need to lose the pounds, Susanna said: 'It was a combination of factors, but a doctor said I was at the top end of my BMI.

'He said it might benefit me if I lost a little weight.'

Co-host Piers Morgan said Susanna seemed happier than ever and she said her shrinking frame has made her feel good within herself.

While it's fantastic that Susanna has embraced a healthier lifestyle, it's fair to say that she has never appeared to be overweight.

Many experts have criticized the body mass index for being a fairly limited measure of the health of our weight, yet it still remains the most popular.

According to Medical News Today, 'Body mass index (BMI) is a measure of body fat based on your weight in relation to your height.
