Liverpool Manager Jurgen Klopp Defends Loris Karius After Yet Another Goalkeeping Error

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has issued a vote of confidence to Loris Karius following the goalkeeper’s latest error in Liverpool’s 3-2 win against Tranmere Rovers.

Loris Karius spilled Oliver Norburn‘s free kick into the path of Jonny Smith, allowing the winger to pull the first of two goals back for the hosts.

The 25-year-old is still feeling the heat six weeks on from his calamitous showing in the Champions League final, as he contributed directly to two of Real Madrid’s goal in their 3-1 win in Kiev.

Klopp has attempted to defend the German keeper, though, telling reporters at Prenton Park: “No one likes that goal but, if we talk about that, then the second goal is Milly’s (James Milner‘s) fault.

“Two brilliant footballers make mistakes but we only talk about one. We can’t make a story after each mistake. Let’s carry on and make the best of the situation and learn from it.

“Until he has a few fantastic games you cannot change [the criticism]. Our job is to support Loris. That’s our part of the deal. I saw this situation 500 times in my life: the ball hits his chest but what can you do?”
