Justice for Tommy Robinson' protest scrapped because it clashes with England's World Cup game

Thanks to the upcoming England-Sweden World Cup game, a planned march to show support for jailed EDL founder Tommy Robinson has been rescheduled.

This 2018 World Cup is truly the gift that keeps on giving, taking the form of great tattoos, optimism and now an inane protest has been pushed back.

The entire reason for the reschedule is because of England's World Cup quarter final game against Sweden on Saturday 7 July, announced First for Britain on Twitter. 

The demonstration, which was supposed to coincide with the anniversary of the 7/7 London bombings, was set to happen in Leeds to come out in full support of Tommy Robinson.

The responses to the reschedule are as great as you'd expect.

A counter-demonstration was planned by Leeds Stand Up to Racism and Leeds United Against Fascism, urging people to 'stand united' against supporters of the English Defence League (EDL) founder.

Tommy Robinson must be feeling the love right now - honestly, being ranked as a lower priority than a football game isn't exactly inspiring.

Tommy Robinson was jailed at Leeds Crown Court in May after pleading guilty to contempt of court.

After he was jailed, around 450 Tommy Robinson supporters took part in march around Leeds on June 1.
