Tragedy In Ibadan As Govt Owned Bus Crushes Student To Death (Photo)

A driver of Oyo State-owned mass transit bus yesterday killed a secondary school pupil in Ibadan. The accident, which attracted other pupils, resulted in a mob attack on the bus, popularly called Ajumose. People vandalised the vehicle by smashing the windscreen and side mirror. The mob attacked the driver, a middle-aged man, who was injured.


The accident occurred near Lafia Hospital, Mokola, Ibadan. The unidentified driver was said to have also injured pupils.

A witness said:

“The traffic was light. Pupils were going home. Suddenly, the bus appeared and hit them, killing a secondary school girl. Passengers alighted, but the mob apprehended the driver. He was beaten up before the police rescued him.”


The police command spokesman Adekunle Ajisebutu said:

“The driver is in our custody. He has been taken to Police Hospital, Eleyele, Ibadan. “The body of the pupil has been deposited at Alafia Hospital morgue. Investigation has begun.”
