Jonny Wilkinson to become a dad for the first time as he reveals family life has made him 'genuinely happy' at last

He looked the picture of happiness when he attended the Royal Wedding in Windsor last weekend with his wife Shelley.

And Jonny Wilkinson has every reason to smile as he is set to become a dad for the first time, with Shelly due to give birth later this summer.

The England rugby legend, 39, talked about being 'genuinely happy' and how he doesn't need the sport anymore because his 'family is his rugby' in an interview with The Sun.

'I'm genuinely happy now, my life has changed so much in the past six years, I've been on a huge journey,' he said.

'It used to be rugby that would give me that pass to feeling good about myself but I don't need it any more.

'Today, having dinner with my family is my rugby and having good health is my rugby.'

He added he doesn't miss playing it because 'he doesn't need it anymore'.

The biggest name in British rugby has been open about his struggle with mental health at the height of his career.

Suffering from dark days and dark thoughts, the sportsman has revealed how he overcame his demons with the help of a drastic overhaul of his diet and lifestyle after struggling with anxiety and depression for the first 30 years of his life.

The Leicester Tigers star told MailOnline: 'I was creating this idea of myself.

'When I was young, I had all the rules of what it takes to be a professional what it was to be a success and I told everyone how it should be.

'I was not at all happy but now I'm far more open and find opportunity where there were closed doors.
