John Terry’s Future At Aston Villa Is For Him To Decide – Steve Bruce

Aston Villa’s manager Steve Bruce has revealed John Terry’s future at the club is entirely up to him after his side’s Championship playoff final loss to Fulham on Saturday

Aston Villa were denied the chance to return to the Premier League after a crushing 1-0 defeat at Wembley.

John Terry, who is out of contract this summer, was a key cog in Bruce’s team this term, providing stability and leadership in his 32 league appearances. However, his future at the club is now in doubt after Saturday’s failure to win promotion.

Asked if he expected Terry, 37, and midfielder Jack Grealish to stay on for another season, Bruce said: “Is John going to stay? That’s the question for everybody. That’ll depend on John.

“There’ll be discussions over the next few weeks. He had an option [for a further year’s contract] if we’d gone up but we haven’t got that now.

“Of course there is going to be speculation over Jack. I would like him to stay; another year with us will do him a world of good. We will see what happens.”
