Things are about to take a serious downward spiral for the character of Sean Tully on Coronation Street.
According to leaked plot details, the machinist is about to fall on hard times which will go from bad to worse.
Firstly, the former barman - who is portrayed by Antony Cotton, 42 - is set to find himself homeless, living in a tent, in a park.
This will lead to him being targeted by some unsavory men, who viciously attack him in the public toilets in what is thought to be a hate crime.
The story is a far cry from Sean's normal on-screen encounters, which tend to veer more towards the humorous side of things.
Photos from the set have seen Antony, playing Sea, emerge from the lavatories covered in bruises and nasty streaks of blood.
The plot - which is set to air over the summer and is still be filmed - is said to be a much more 'poignant and serious' one, in contrast to other character arcs from Sean's 15 years on the soap.
The actor has been on the series since 2003, with things said to be getting darker form his character.
He told The Daily Star: 'I’ve just begun the first part of a storyline that’s going to run for quite a while over the summer. It is a very unusual storyline, very serious and not what people would expect from Sean.
'It’s not what I expected and I was taken aback when I heard what it was. But it is a subject that’s very close to my heart and I will reveal all in time.'
