All The Reasons Why You Should Tip People That Serve You Even When They Mess Up

Nothing beats good work and putting value on the people that deliver them, however it is still important you tip the people that serve you even when they mess up.

It is neccessary for you to tip your servers be it a bartender or anyone else assisting you whose livelihood depends on tips, irrespective of how dissatisfied you are with their service or how crappy you feel they were. The fact is that their job is probably more difficult than yours.

It is quite easy to sit and expect that every drink you ever order will be made as perfectly as you like, or that every meal will come according to plan, but that’s simply not how life works.

There will eventually come a day when the person you trusted to bring you food or booze will screw things up.
They might forget your utensils. They may have accidentally forgotten to request your cocktail or may even have gotten your order wrong entirely. Nonetheless, tip them.

Very few things beats being empathetic to others. When people are acting out or looking sad or being defensive, there’s most likely a reason for it. Well, it’s important to extend that courtesy to your servers when they’re having an off day.

Another way to think about it is how would you feel if your boss docked your pay every single time you came into work on a bad day? What would you do if after every Monday morning eye roll or Thursday afternoon yawn your boss walked by your office or desl and said, “Oh no, you are not going to get away with that attitude”?

Yes, everybody has bad days. Instead of you to make the already bad day of the person that serves you worse, you may want to practice a little empathy and do right by your fellow human with a little tip.

While a lot of people might feel this is wrong or that we are glorifying mediocrity, you may still want to think about all the times you have messed up and people gave you a chance. I know you’re probably fuming just reading this, but it’s important to remember that nobody is perfect.

You may want to have a couple of words with your server to see what’s up? Fine. You can even go ahead and have a word with the manager but dont under such circumstances withold the tip you earlier had an intention of giving.

These peoples’ livelihoods depend on those tips, and they probably pool them with other servers, bus boys, bartenders and others who had absolutely nothing to do with your order. If you stiff the waiter or the person serving you, you are most likely stiffing a lot of other people too.
