Big brother had the #bbnaija housemates talk about sexual consent, perhaps due to the fact that sexual consent has been questioned a number of times in the Big Brother house.
The topic of Sexual Consent is still a highly controversial one and one that has been known to get heated as opposing views clashm perhaps as a result of this, Biggie decided to hand the #bbnaija Housemates the Task of dissecting Sexual Consent through creating a Radio Drama and Pantomime.
The topic seemed to be one that hit the #bbnaija housemates in all the right places because they showed a lot of enthusiasm while discussing it. The Housemates brought up instances where they weren’t aware of the lines that had been crossed.
Vandora shared her own rape experiences which further broke the shell and allowed the #bbnaija Housemates to drive the topic into borderless dimensions. It appeared that the ladies in the house, especially Vandora, BamBam, Anto and Princess were the most vocal.
The men on their part challenged the narrative and mentioned just how this was often viewed from a single perspective which favoured women as victims and men as perpetrators.
While thia appeared to be true, the #bbnaija housemates were finally able to come to a middle ground where they agreed both women and men are victims.
After hours of working on the task, we were all afforded thr opportunity to see a different side to team Angelifu (Angel and Ifu Ennada). They were able to assume leadership because of their production background and they began to effortlessly plan their Pantomime.
The duo appeared to be in their elements and they may just be able to make the #bbnaija housemates save their wager.
The task however seemed to have enlightened the housemates as it helped both genders in the house to step into each other’s shoes and gist on that perspective.
