Police overpowers suspected armed robbers, arrests one, recovers arms in Delta

The Ebrumede Police Divisional Headquarters on last week overpowered the fire power of suspected armed robbery syndicate and arrested one Lucky Eraiga with a cut to size locally made double barreled gun with two live cartridges and some bags as three others escaped along the popular PTI Junction near Uti junction , DAILY POST has gathered.

Contacted, the Divisional Police Officer of Ebrumede Division, CSP Ibrahim Shaibu declined comments on the matter.

However, a Police source who craved anonymity stated that the a patrol team led by ASP Aliyu Mariga on a routine stop & search duty at the aforesaid location accosted a tricycle with four occupants.

The source revealed that the occupants of the tricycle started running on sighting the Police who also gave them a hot chase.

The source said it was in the process, that they reportedly opened fire on the police who fired back.


DAILY POST gathered that one Lucky Eraiga was arrested in the process.

Contacted, the Delta State Acting Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Andrew Aniamaka said, ”There was a robbery incident on the 14th of July around Ebrumede axis.

”One lucky Eraiga was arrested with a tricycle with Reg.No. BUR 7754 H, milk coloured. Also recovered from him is one cut to size locally made double barreled gun with two live cartridges and some bags.
