Police In Ogun Confirms Death Of Man Brutalised By Soldiers

The Ogun State Police Command has confirmed the death of a man, Adeola Oyekan, brutalised by soldiers of 174 Battalion in Ikorodu, Lagos.

The Public Relations Officer, ASP Abimbola Oyeyemi, also promised the family of the deceased that all the perpetrators would be brought to book.

He said: “The Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu, has directed that the landlady and the son should be arrested.

“Through that, the son will be able to identify the soldiers.”

Oyekan, it was learnt, died on Friday from injuries sustained when he was assaulted by soldiers from 174 Battalion Ikorodu.

Meanwhile, his wife, Glory Fagbayide, has demanded immediate arrest of the soldiers.

Fagbayide told The Punch earlier today that: “I want justice. The four soldiers that beat my husband, our landlady and his son must all end up in jail. My husband and I just married September 2016.”

Other sources also said Oyekan was rushed to the Pillars Hospital, Ogijo, where he gave up the ghost.

Oyekan’s case is coming two weeks after some soldiers of the 174 Battalion allegedly brutalised a woman, Ruth Orji.

Orji’s case has been taken to court.
