Chelsea Manager Antonio Conte Remains Coy On Contract Talks

Antonio Conte has refused to be drawn on whether he will sign a new contract as Chelsea head coach, but denied talk of being unhappy with the level of involvement in transfers.

“For now it is important for me and the players to be focused on the present to reach our target. I repeat I’m very happy to be Chelsea’s coach.”

Does he want more control over transfers? “It is not true. Honestly I have a good relationship. When I need something I speak with the club and we find always to try and find the right solution. Always together.”

Conte was also asked if Chelsea were right to sell Romelu Lukaku andKevin De Bruyne.

“It’s very difficult to take always the best decision and sometimes you think one thing and in the future it happens differently. Football is not simple to give always a correct evaluation for all players.

“Sometimes it happens that one player didn’t play well one or two seasons ago, but then had a fantastic season.”
