But this year, Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield revealed that while they did get drunk, they at least managed to turn up to This Morning on Thursday in fresh clothes - with Phillip even downing a glass of red wine live on air.
However, Holly was feeling so hungover that she retched twice live on air a year on from when the pair arrived at the studios wearing the same outfits as the night before.
Appearing on the show, the pair thanked their fans for helping them pick up the best live magazine gong.
She said: 'We have made it in today, we're not in brilliant condition, but at least we're not wearing the same clothes this year.'
Phillip added that they were determine not to shame themselves this year, but they were so happy with their win that they drunkenly planned to get a tattoo.
He said: 'We shamed ourselves last year so we won't do that this year. We're getting tattoos.'
Holly continued: 'Unfortunately tattoo salons aren't open that late. Members of our team were searching high and low - but we couldn't find a tattooist.'
Feeling relieved, Phillip said: 'That would have been a very bad idea. [Dear] Deidre did it too, she's let us all down. she went a step too far.
'James Nesbitt was so up for it he was going to do it for us. We should have used the Tattoo Fixers as they were in the audience but they don't do it out of their salons.'
Holly joked that her mum had been in touch to ask if she was being serious and she also joked about when she was tipsy and ready to go home and was speaking into her award.
She said: 'Here's a bit of footage when I was on my way home and was ready to call a cab.'
