Paedo Jimmy Savile’s body to remain overlooking two local schools because no-one will fund £20,000 cost of digging him up
A CAMPAIGN to have the body of Jimmy Savile removed from its grave has been stopped in its tracks – because nobody is prepared to pay £20,000 to dig him up.
Locals in Scarborough have been left horrified as the paedophile still occupies a 6ft-wide triple plot overlooking the sea.
Meanwhile, demands to have his body exhumed and cremated are even backed by members of his own family, according to the Daily Mail.
But lawyers have revealed the notorious TV presenter’s £4 million legacy has been drained by legal bills and compensation costs, or set aside for donations – with the BBC, NHS and Barnado’s receiving payments.
As a result, the body has had to be left in its now unmarked plot in Woodlands Cemetery, Scarborough – a family cemetery where, shockingly, Savile’s grave faces two local schools.
Originally, the twisted TV host, who died five years ago today, was buried with a flashy headstone – reading “It was good while it lasted,”.
But after it was revealed he sexually assaulted hundreds of women and children in a campaign of abuse lasting more than 50 years, undertakers removed the £4,000 stone in the dead of night, and it was sent to landfill.
Savile was also buried at a 45-degree angle so he could ‘see the sea’ – while his gold coffin was filled with gold jewellery, cigars and a Royal Marines green beret.
