SPORTS STAR'S DAUGHTER KILLED

Olympic sprinter Tyson Gay’s teenage daughter shot dead at restaurant

OLYMPIC star Tyson Gay’s teenage daughter has been shot dead at a restaurant after being caught in the crossfire of a suspected gang attack.

Trinity Gay, 15, was shot in the neck at Cook Out restaurant in Lexington, Kentucky, early this morning.

The promising track athlete was rushed to a nearby hospital but sadly died from her injuries, officials say.

Devastated dad Tyson told WLEX on Sunday morning he is at the airport and on his way to Lexington.

He said: “She didn’t make it. I’m so confused.

“She was just here last week for fall break. It’s so crazy. I have no idea what happened.”

The rising track star was killed as shooting broke out between groups of men in two cars.

Police are questioning two people whose car matches one of the sports car's descriptions and have launched a murder investigation into the shooting.

In a statement they said: "Around 4 a.m. Sunday, October 16, officers responded to the parking lot of the Cook Out restaurant located at 855 S. Broadway in reference to shots fired.

"Witnesses reported an exchange of gunfire between two vehicles, a gray Dodge Charger and a dark-colored sports car with tinted windows.

"A juvenile who was struck at the scene was transported to a hospital by private vehicle and then transferred to UK Hospital, where she was pronounced deceased.

"The victim has been identified by the Fayette County Coroner’s office as 15-year-old Trinity Gay of Lexington.

"Officers located the Dodge Charger and detained two possible persons of interest for questioning. Police are still working to locate the other vehicle involved."

Tragic Trinity was following in her dad's footsteps as a promising young athlete.

Like Olympian Tyson, she ran 100m and 200m sprints and was making a name for herself at Lafayette High School - where her dad also attended.

Cops were told a dark-coloured sports car and a grey Dodge Charger were involved in the fatal shoot-out.
