Reported as one of the highest pay-outs he would have ever received for a show, Bieber decided there are some things money can’t buy.
The paycheck was for Bieber to perform at the Republican National Convention, RNC, for supporters of Donald Trump.
The singer refused to perform, with NBA superstar LeBron James reportedly a huge influence on the Bieb’s decision.
Hollywood’s Creative Arts Agency, CAA, the talent agency representing Bieber said it received an offer from a promoter saying he would like the singer to perform for 45 minutes at a venue near Quicken Loans Arena, where the RNC was held.
According to the contract, GOP donors were bankrolling the whole gig. The document also indicated the GOP would take care of Bieber’s production expenses and the amount would be paid first before the singer arrived.
Justin Beiber’s manager Scooter Braun, had major issues with the gig as he said it was political, despite what the offer said. The CAA also shared Scooter’s thoughts.
Braun who is a strong Hillary Clinton supporter asked Justin to query the promoters about putting up ‘Black Lives Matter’ banners in the venue.
The promoters replied that he “couldn’t display ‘Black Lives Matter’ banners, but the donors would accept banners that read ‘All Lives Matter’.”
The last straw was the promoters’ lie that LeBron James had been contacted and would also be available at the convention. When Braun got in touch with LeBron’s people, they were told the NBA star wouldn’t be at the convention, and advised Bieber not to go as well.
