TEARY TEARY ME #Euro2016: Why does #Portugal’s Ricardo Quaresma have two teardrop tattoos?

PORTUGAL WINGER Ricardo Quaresma has seemed to have resurrected a career at Euro 2016 sparking speculation over his teardrop tattoos.

What could they possibly mean?

The ill fated reputation of a teardrop tattoo does have a huge meaning in the dark underworld of crime, it is said that it means you have killed someone, not many defenders would want to stop Quaresma in his tracks if that was the truth behind his tears.

The tattoo can also mean a lengthy time behind bars and although Quaresma hasn’t been on many peoples radar for a few years its unlikely this is why the former Inter Milan man tattooed his face.

Its been a tough career for the 32 year old, it started so well for a player that has constantly been in the shadow of team mate Cristiano Ronaldo.

Bursting on to the scene alongside Ronaldo at Sporting Lisbon, it Quaresma destined for greater things more than his compatriot.

Quaresma was sold to Barcelona, whilst Ronaldo headed for Manchester United and the rest is history, he returned to Portugal with FC Porto before spells at Inter Milan and an unsuccessful loan at Chelsea.

The Portuguese fell in to some sort of obscurity when he ended up in Dubai playing for Al Ahli in 2013 just as Ronaldo was tearing teams to shreds and setting new records at Real Madrid.

Such a fall from grace after being tipped to be the successor to the national team after the retirement of Portuguese legend Luis Figo.

It would appear the most likely case for the teardrops, is a career that started on a high has only ever hit a downward spiral.

Now though with the tears tattooed on his face for all to see and at the age of 32, perhaps Ricardo Quaresma is finally ready to face his demons.
