This is the unbelievable moment four surfers were caught on camera paddling for their lives as they swam past an enormous FOUR-METRE shark.
The lucky men were snapped by stunned Richard Knoppert, who spotted the four surfers acting ususually.
Richard decided to fire off a few shots of them in the water – but it was only when he checked the pictures later on that he realised why the group was in such a hurry.
The unnamed men were out surfing on Sunday afternoon at the popular Mettams Pool, near North Beach, in Perth, Australia.
Photographer Richard, 57, from Perth, was out enjoying his hobby and looking for great surfing pictures when he took the incredible shots.
He said he never thought he would capture a shark hunting down surfers on camera.
"There was no surf around. Then I saw the guys making a beeline for the beach," he said.
Richard, who used a Nikon with a 150 – 600 lens to take the photos, added that the shark breed was unclear – but it looked around four metres long and had a huge fin.
"It was all over in five minutes," he said.
"I was about 100 metres away and when they came out you could see they were gesturing that something was out there.
"I think the shark was about 30 foot from the surfers because I was standing on an angle.
"When I spoke to the Department of Fisheries when they rang me, I said he was about 80 feet from the shore. He was catching fish in the waves that were breaking, you wouldn't catch me in there anyway.
