Demi Lovato sat down for an emotional interview with Elle Canada which was released on July 22, and she reveals a lot about how she feels about being compared to other girls that got their start on the Disney Channel. The magazine reveals that she is often criticized in comparison to Miley Cyrus and Selena Gomez, two women who started on Disney at the same time, and have had comparable success in the music industry since then. Demi REALLY hates it.
“I’m me,” she says confidently in Elle. “I’m not anybody but myself, and I wish people would stop comparing me to others.” We can completely understand why that would get so frustrating! Demi explains that she’s the “type of person who feels everything,” so she really takes those criticisms to heart. However, she has no reason to feel bad in comparison to Miley and Selena, all three of the girls are absolutely killing it. We can’t wait to see what’s next from all of them!
