Chris Evans is being investigated over historical sex assault claims, police confirm

Chris Evans is being investigated by police over allegations of sexual assault, it has been confirmed.

In a statement this morning, the Met confirmed that a woman had made an allegation of "non-recent sexual assault" on May 23.

Police told Mirror Online the allegation related to "incidents in Tower Hamlets in the 1990s".

It is not known if the Top Gear presenter, who has taken over the revamped motor show, will be questioned, and no information has been given out about the time scale of the investigation.

In a statement, a Metropolitan Police spokesman said: "An allegation of non-recent sexual assault was made to police on May 23.

"The allegation was made by a woman against a man, and relates to incidents in Tower Hamlets in the 1990s.

"There have been no arrests and no person has been interviewed under caution."

Chris was back on air this morning on Radio 2 and sounded jovial, after previously slamming the claims, along with hitting back over allegations he bullied staff.

"Ask anyone I've ever worked with at Radio 2 if I've ever been bullying. Go on. Ask them. Yes, I lose my rag.

"But not like I used to. I used to be a big shouter and screamer. But I don't bully people. And I didn't get my willy out.
