Who's the daddy! Game of Thrones makers reveal Jon Snow's real father on their website ruining Season Six for diehard fans waiting for the mystery to be solved

HBO has released a graphic which shows the identity of Jon Snow's real father after last season's finale showed he was not sired by Ned Stark.

The chart, which shows the relationship of many of the major players in the hit series, shows his mother, as revealed last week, was Lyanna Stark, sister of Ned.

However the new graphic shows his father is now Rhaegar Targaryen, meaning he is the nephew of Daenerys, Queen of Dragons.

The revelation of Snow's parentage, who spent part of last season dead, will set up intriguing new options for the new series.

During Season Five's finale, one of the scenes features Jon Snow's birth and Ned Stark's vow to protect him.

This gives the newly crowned King of the North a direct claim on the Iron Throne.

For while his aunt Daenerys is sailing to Westeros with a massive navy, army and three dragons, the new King In The North is the sole surviving son of the man who had been first in line to the Iron Throne.

In fact his claim is far stronger than it is to being the Lord Of Winterfell, for not only are there multiple children of Eddard Stark still alive, while he is really a member of House Targaryen.

It remains to be seen how his aunt will respond to discovering she is not truly the last of her house.
