#Police #Recruitment: 338,227 Nigerians To Vie For 10,000 Slots As From June 6

Following the announcement on Thursday by the Police Service Commission that it had pruned the numbers of applicants that applied for recruitment into the country’s Police Force from 911,438 to 338,227, another major reduction will commence from tomorrow, June 6, 2016.

This is because the police force will only need the services of 10,000 Nigerians as directed by the supreme leader of the country, President Muhammadu Buhari.

While the Chairman of the Commission, Mike Okiro, had announced that the screening exercise of successful applicants would begin on June 6 in the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory, the Bayelsa Police Command on Friday corroborated with the announcement.

A statement issued by the command’s spokesman, Mr Asinim Butswat, disclosed that the command will display the list of shortlisted candidates at the entrance of the Police Headquarters in Ovom, Yenagoa.

The statement read: “The Bayelsa State Police Command wishes to inform the general public, particularly Bayelsans who applied for various cadre in the ongoing Police recruitment exercise, that the list of shortlisted candidates is out.

“The names of candidates will be pasted at the entrance of Bayelsa State Police Command on Friday June 3 from 10.00 a.m.

“Applicants who did not receive confirmation via email or SMS are advised to check their names and copy their Identification number preparatory for the screening exercise scheduled to commence on the June 6.”

Among those shortlisted are 44,661 for cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police; 87,736 for cadet Inspector and 205,830 for Police Constables.

It was a sad end for about 800,000 applicants, who were pruned out even without a chance to interview as the force complained that majority of the candidates failed to meet up with the 28 years stipulated age requirement – most applicants were said to be within the age of 30 and 34 years.
