Omar Mateen, the man who slaughtered 49 innocent people at the Pulse nightclub, pledged his loyalty to a terrorist group during a chilling 911 call made during the massacre. Authorities have released a partial transcript of this call, revealing exactly what the killer said.
As Omar Mateen, 29, committed the deadliest mass shooting in American history, the heartless killer made a call to 911 to spread his message of hate. Transcripts of this call have been released and it is just as terrifying as anyone imagined.
Omar declared himself an “Islamic soldier” during his call, according to partial transcripts released by the FBI on June 20, according to CNN. The transcripts also revealed that Omar took responsibility, saying, “I let you know. I’m in Orlando and I did the shootings.” He also claimed allegiance to a terrorist organization, reportedly ISIS, and an individual to during the call, but the authorities did not release those names.
The FBI also released a summary of the conversations they had with Omar during the standoff. Omar told the hostage negotiator that he had bombs! “There is some vehicle outside that has some bombs, just to let you know.
You people are gonna get it, and I’m gonna ignite it if they try to do anything stupid.” However, no such explosive devices were found. The authorities also claimed that after the initial rampage, there was no shooting for three hours. As the standoff continued for so long, the victims sadly bled to death, leading to so many casualties.
A night that started off full of joy and dancing turned into a nightmare for the survivors and the families of the victims murdered in this bloodbath. Not only did Omar turn his AR-15 on people inside the nightclub, but he also took multiple hostages inside Pulse’s bathroom. Omar also posted horrific messages on Facebook ahead of his shooting, hinting at the massacre that was to come. He even searched the social media site to see if his shooting was trending. He even texted his wife, Noor Salman, 30, and she ended the conversation by telling Omar “I love you.” When reports emerged about the horrific shooting, Noor attempted to call Omar. He didn’t pick up.
Omar was killed during that night, but not until scores of innocent people were mowed down. As authorities continue to investigate his plans, his wife might end up paying for his crimes. A FBI source told Fox News that she could ultimately be charged with 49 counts of murder and 53 counts of attempted murder for her alleged role in the shooting. She allegedly drove Omar to scout out the nightclub before the shooting, and she reportedly told authorities that he was planning to attack Disney World!
Our thoughts continue to go out to the survivors and to the families of those killed in this shooting.
