The family of Jo Cox have thanked a hero pensioner who tried to save the tragic MP as she lay dying.
Brave Bernard Kenny, 77, risked his life trying to stop an attack on Mrs Cox outside her constituency surgery in Birstall, near Leeds, on Thursday.
In an emotional speech today, Cox' sister Kim Leadbeater read a statement in which she thanked the emergency services for their help.
But she reserved special praise for Mr Kenny.
"We'd like to thank Bernard Kenny, who tried to help her,' said Kim.
"We wish him well in his recovery.
"What an an amazing man."
Mr Kenny was also rushed to Leeds General Infirmary and his wife Doreen remains at his bedside where he is described as being in a stable condition.
The former colliery worker has previously been commended for his bravery after forming part of the Gomersal Mines Rescue team which tried to save victims of the Lofthouse mining disaster in 1973.
