Rupert Everett appeared on Wednesday's Loose Women, where he clarified previous remarks he made about Caitlyn Jenner.
The 57-year-old actor was keen to explain that comments he made to The Sunday Times this month were 'skewered', after he argued Caitlyn, who transitioned last year, wasn't a woman but 'a cross-dressing man.'
Rupert explained that as a child he wanted to be a girl, dressing and 'thinking' as a female, but after the age of 15 the desire went away.
In his previous comments to The Times, Rupert explained he always dressed as a girl in his youth and encouraged people to embrace the 'ambivalence' of their gender rather than resort to medical procedures.
The openly gay actor said he would have regretted a sex change and had 'no clue' of what being transsexual involved, while also arguing that resorting to hormones was a significant step.
'It's nice to be allowed to express yourself, but the hormone thing, very young, is a big step,' he said.
'I think a lot of children have an ambivalence when they're very young to what sex they are or what they feel about everyone. And there should be a way of embracing it.'
