Demi Lovato has called Mariah Carey “Unnecessarily Rude” as she slammed the singer in a string of written opinions in defense of Jennifer Lopez.
It all began after a celebrity Instagram account, The Art of Shade shared a post where it compared Mariah Carey and Ariana Grande.
The post claimed Grande was a lesser version of Mariah, a point Lovato disagreed on.
Demi wrote, “You got it the wrong way around honey,” then she brought up the feud between Mariah and J Lo, “Mariah is a legend and so talented but constantly disses people. It’s nasty the way she treats Jennifer. Ari did nothing wrong.”
As always, Mariah’s fans who are called “lambs” came to their leaders defense and attempted to chew Demi, but the star wasn’t fazed as she posted, “This is why I posted what I did. Jen keeps it classy but I’m not afraid to say s–t. The woman is mean for no reason.”
Demi Lovato added,“Extremely talented? Yes. Superhuman? Possibly. Unnecessarily rude? Absolutely.”
Demi Lovato’s comments stem from an age-old feud in the 2000s between Mariah and Jennifer Lopez where the former told paps she “didn’t know” who J Lo was.
If anyone forgot about Mariah’s comment in 2000, her response to a photographer in March when she was asked the same question if she knew Jennifer Lopez to which she replied with a laugh, “I still don’t know her”, only reignited the feud, according to reports.
Although last month in an interview with Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live Mariah made attempts to clarify her comments. She said, “That was so long ago. I can’t believe people still make such a big deal out of it.”
She added, “Apparently, I am forgetful. It wasn’t like I don’t know who she is—of course I do. That’s not the question.”
Andy Cohen made an effort to give Mariah a new slate to answer from so he questioned if the singer thought J Lo was cool and Mariah answered rather bluntly, “I don’t know her. What am I supposed to say? I’m not going to put on a thing like we’re all Hollywood and let’s pretend we’re best friends.”
