An FCT High Court presided over by Justice Valentine Ashi has annulled the PDP 2014 Constitution Amendment through which, the embattled factional Chairman of the party, Ali Modu Sheriff assumed office.
This may likely put the leadership tussle currently rocking the party to rest.
The judge, in his ruling described the amendment as a violation of Electoral Act and declared that actions by the embattled factional leader and his officers were illegal.
Recall that some members of the opposition party had allegedly zoned the Office of the National Chairman of the party to the North-Eastern zone, leading to the emergence of Sheriff.
This followed the resignation of former Chairman, Adamu Muazu who hails from northeastern zone after the party lost in the 2015 Presidential election.
Following the alleged expiration of his tenure, the PDP at its National Convention held in Port Harcourt on May 21 inaugurated a caretaker Committee which was chaired by former Governor of Kaduna State, Ahmed Makarfi.
The opposition party has since being battling with leadership tussle after the inauguration of the Makarfi-led committee.
