Parents release harrowing hospital picture of son fighting for life after taking 'Cotton Candy' legal high

This is the harrowing image of a young man fighting for his life after he 'took a legal high without knowing'.
Ben Dobson's dad Mark spoke of the horrendous experience of witnessing his son battle on a life support machine in hospital as doctors tried to save him.
He has released the picture so people can see the dangers of these recently-banned chemicals.
Mark says his 24-year-old son was at his home when he was passed what he thought was a shisha pipe which actually contained the legal high Cotton Candy Carnage.

Ben from Duke Bar, Burnley, was later found lying unconscious and fitting in the street after hallucinating.
Mark Dobson, 47, said: "Ben was at home with his girlfriend and one of his mates - there was only three of them in the house.

Ben managed to battle through and survive the ordeal
"Ben had been upstairs and when he came down the stairs his mate passed his a shisha pipe and obviously he inhaled the substance.
"He didn't know it was the legal high Cotton Candy Carnage at all - but his friend said that is what he had in it."
Mark added: "Ben doesn't even drink - let alone do drugs."
Ben was rushed to the Royal Blackburn Hospital from where he was found in Briercliffe Road. Someone in a local chip shop had spotted him and called 999.
Ben has regained consciousness at hospital - but didn't recognise his own father.
Mark says Ben was “completely on another planet”.

Ben has now recovered and is doing well
He said: "He didn't know what he had taken and they couldn't treat him because they didn't know what they were treating.
"His blood pressure was up, his heart rate was up and then he couldn't breathe for himself.
"He was put on a life support machine. They tried to bring him round 24 hours later but he was still not breathing on this own but they tried again and thankfully he could."
Mystery still surrounds where Ben disappeared to before he was found.
Mark said: "He went missing for 20 minutes and in that time he ended up pretty smashed up with cuts and bruises all over him; his face, elbows, and chipped front teeth.
"We still don't know what happened. He remembers running out the house, the ground came up to swallow him and he just remembers grabbing hold of a car wheel.
