Former Grange Hill star jailed for sex attack on young girl he was hired to teach - Mirror

A former Grange Hill actor has been jailed for a sex attack on a young girl as he taught her maths and English.
John Cattell, who appeared on the show in the 1980s, molested the youngster after being hired as a private tutor.
He carried out the attack as he sat beside the eight-year-old at a kitchen table while her parents were in a different room.
Cattell, who also appeared in London’s Burning, was an active theatre performer until his arrest in 2014.
But now both careers are in tatters after he was jailed for a year at Wolverhampton Crown Court .

The 62-year-old, who played teacher Colin Cant in Grange Hill, was convicted after a trial.

His victim’s mother said in a statement: “We just wanted the best for our children.
“We trusted this man, believing he understood the boundaries of the job. Now we are paranoid. Who do we trust?
Judge Kristina Montgomery QC told Cattell: “This was a gross violation of her body and a substantial breach of trust.
“You are arrogant and deceitful and think you can act as you wish on your sexual desires.”
Cattell, from Wolverhampton, was ordered to sign the Sex Offenders’ Register for ten years.
He was also handed a Sexual Harm Prevention Order banning any contact with under 16s for five years.
