The 22-year-old One Direction star changed his profile picture to a cosy shot with his new girlfriend on Sunday, sending his fanbase into meltdown.
Though he's thought to have removed the black and white selfie after Cheryl, 32, seemed to send a scathing message directed at the negative commenters.
It's the first confirmation that Liam and Cheryl have struck up a reported three-month relationship - first reported on Saturday - following her failed marriage to second husband Jean-Bernard.
In it, Liam appears shirtless with a small smile on her face, while make-up free Cheryl holds up a peace sign to the cameras.
Two days after the first reports emerged of Cheryl dating the former X Factor contestant, who she first met when he was 14, the star was allegedly overwhelmed by jealous attacks from 1D fans.
One jealous fan branded the 32-year-old a 'repulsive wh***' while others told her to 'f*** off' and another Twitter user ranted: 'When "Liam and Cheryl" are trending but they didn't die in a fire
And a particularly angry fan wrote: 'F*** off Cheryl. You can have any man in the world. Step the f*** away from my Liam or we going to have problems.'
The most vile troll added: 'REPULSIVE W***E. FROM ONE BED STRAIGHT TO THE NEXT.'
Cheryl was seen to respond to critics of her shock romance on Monday, when she briefly changed her bio to: 'When people hate on you, it’s because you’ve got something they want.'
However, the riposte would have gone under the radar had it not been for eagle-eyed fans, as the X Factor judge swiftly updated it to: 'Cheryl..All love Good vibes only✌❤️'
