A mother was found battered to death and in a pool of blood at her home with her 16-month-old daughter in the house.
Leanne Wall, 36, was discovered with serious head injuries following the incident on Conway Avenue in Whitefield, Manchester.
Police carried the little girl out to a neighbour's home after the alarm was raised at 7.50am yesterday.

Today, forensic experts in white suits carried out examinations at the house and Tactical Aid Unit officers used ladders to search porch roofs at other homes on the street for weapons or other evidence.
Bushes and drains were checked too, although police haven't revealed whether or not they believe a weapon was used.
Police had been called out to Ms Wall on previous occasions and the tragedy has been described as 'domestic-related'.

Her partner was dramatically arrested near junction 17 on the M60 motorway.
Witnesses described him lying face down on the hard shoulder, surrounded by police officers.
A spokesman for the force confirmed that the suspect was still in custody for questioning.
Detective Chief Inspector Paul Parker said: 'Our thoughts are with the family and friends of this poor woman in what must be an awful time for them.
'We currently have a man in custody and an investigation has been launched into the circumstances leading up to this woman's death however I would like to stress that we believe this to be an isolated incident with no wider threat to the public.'
