Tragic: Teaching assistant died from blood clot on lungs caused by taking the pill
A 21-YEAR-OLD died from a 'massive' blood clott on the lung after taking the contraceptive pill for just 25 days.
Fallan Kurek, a teaching assistant, collapsed at home after being dismissed from a minor injuries unit with painkillers, an inquest heard.
She had visited the Sir Robert Peel community hospital complaining of having chest pains and feeling breathless, a court heard.
Nurse Stuart Lamb assessed her symptoms and dissmissed the discomfort as muscle pain before sending Miss Kurek home with painkillers.
A coroner, Andrew Haigh, ruled that Miss Kurek died from a pulmonary embolism after side-effects of the pill were not noticed or effectively treated.
