Dying pensioner writes heartbreaking goodbye note to family while waiting TWO HOURS for ambulance - Mirror

Roland Volante, 74, died from massive heart failure in his sheltered flat on Bonfire Night, an inquest heard

A pensioner penned a heart-breaking 'I love you' note to his two daughters as he died while waiting almost two hours for paramedics.

Roland Volante, 74, was killed by a massive heart failure in his sheltered flat on Bonfire Night, an inquest heard.

He pulled the emergency cord - but it took one hour forty minutes for the ambulance to arrive.

Mr Volante used his final moments to write a message of love to his family.

The retired mechanical fitter, nephew of famous 1920s and 1930s boxer Dom Volante, could be heard by the call handler shouting: “Help”.

The call handler dialled 999 but Mr Volante’s case was given a low priority by the ambulance service and paramedics took 1hr 40mins to arrive.

They found him dead on his living room floor.

Andre Rebello, the coroner who investigated the grandfather’s death, criticised alarm company Magenta Living for not telling the ambulance service Mr Volante suffered from heart disease when the 999 call was made.
